1.      Skill Acquisition Programs

  • Toilet training
  • Verbal behavior / communication (including communication devices)
  • Activities of daily living (bathing, showering, chores, etc)
  • Money management
  • Self-management
  • Community awareness
  • Social skills

2.      Behavior Reduction Programs

  • ABA teaches the reduction of challenging behaviors, replacement with appropriate behaviors, and skill development
  • Treatment planning is customized for each family and/or environment based on the goals established, individual needs, values and priorities, scheduling availability, and resources (funding)
  • The BCBAs and team collectively prioritize the behavioral goals, determine the number of hours per week that ABA intervention will occur, and for what length of time.

3.      Environmental Arrangement Programs

  • Minimizing distracters
  • Using more powerful and salient cues
  • Visual/auditory aides
